The Center for Resarch &Technology Hellas (CERTH)

The Centre for Research and Technology - Hellas (CERTH) was founded in March 2000. It is a private-law legal, non-profit organization, under the supervision of the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT) of the Greek Ministry of Education, Life-long Learning and Religious Affairs. The mission of CERTH is to carry out basic and applied research with emphasis in developing new products and services with industrial, economic and social impact in the following fields: chemical and biochemical processes and advanced functional materials; informatics and telecommunications; land, sea and air transportation; agrobiotechnology and food engineering; environmentally friendly technologies for solid fuels and alternative energy sources and biomedical Informatics; biomedical engineering, biomolecular medicine and pharmacogenetics. CERTH has been involved in a large number of collaborative R&D projects in the areas of energy, environment, advanced functional materials, informatics, multimedia and internet technologies, ecommerce, bio-informatics, transportation, agrobiotechnology, etc.

One of the main objectives of CERTH's strategy is to further strengthen its collaboration with Greek and international industries and enterprises through its technology transfer policies and wide dissemination of its R&D results and technologies. Another goal of CERTH is to maintain its leading position as a center of scientific and technological excellence in Greece, Europe and world-wide. Thus, CERTH places a strong emphasis on R&D activities consistent with the objectives of the 7th European Framework Program and future technological developments linked with the international industries. At the same time, CERTH actively promotes its collaborations with Greek academic and research institutions as well as with industries in accordance to the R&D policies of Greek Operational Program for competitiveness (2007 - 2013).
